Dogs eat grass in case of gastric upset. If the level of acid increases they eat fibre (grass) and as a mechanism induces vomition which make them feel better.

Actually, when dogs eat indigestible food or have an upset stomach, dogs will eat grass. This is because the fiber in plants can promote their intestinal peristalsis, promote the digestion of other food to a certain extent, and finally excrete it.

Dogs need roughage in their diets and grass is a good source of fiber. A lack of roughage affects the dog's ability to digest food and pass stool so they are seen eating grass

Dogs also have gaseous problems. Gas is simply a sign of gastrointestinal upset and if your dog is feeling gassy they will try to lessen the uncomfortable sensations they are having. They will alleviate gassy feelings by eating certain plants, causing them to have a bowel movement or vomit.

If your dog has an upset stomach, they may also use leaves and grass as a way to make themselves vomit and get rid of whatever is causing them gastrointestinal pain. it's normal they just consume it for their own relief
