Surfaces such as pavement, asphalt and artificial grass can become searingly hot causing blisters or burns on their paw pads. Hot pavement can also increase the overall body temperature of your pet and lead to heat stroke.
Walking your dog regularly on hard and rough surfaces will help them to develp callouses on their paws, thus thickening the surface and helping to prevent punctures and scrapes.

The best way to protect your dog's paw pads from injury is to have them wear dog booties when walking, hiking, and playing on rough terrain or in extreme temperatures. If your dog has a tough time wearing booties, you can invest in a paw pad wax or balm that helps condition and protect your dog's paw pads.

Paw scrapes is very common in small pups!
Puppies have delicate paw pads that are easily damaged.
Concrete surfaces etc and objects like stones etc can cause paw damage.
Avoiding hot pavement and rough surfaces though.
Jake may whine or lick excessively when his paw is injured. Pay close attention to this. ✅
Clean paws with water and put a paw moisturing lotion for relaxing post walkies.

No, not unless the pavement is hot or there is salt on the sidewalks to melt ice, both of which can burn the dog's paws. Walking on a a sidewalk actually helps to keep the nails short. You should inspect the paws periodically and apply a lubricant to keep the paw pads moistened and prevent cracks.

Paws might hurt after a long walk when they are used to shorter ones. Think of when you walk a lot in a day how your feet feel, your dog's may feel the same. Summer sidewalks burns: hot sidewalks can burn paws. It's important to remember this.

Do not expand the area of walk directly but with small steps. In case of burning, try avoid walking them in hot summer weather, give them specific area at home or on terrace.

I neglected it before but then I learned from my mistake.Try to keep you pooch's paws dry, use shoes, it helps from their paws cracking. I use Captain Zack's paw balm, it is amazing. My pooch's was not a fan of it first then she got used to it.
