Short-haired breeds may only need a slight trim once every 2-3 years. Long-haired breeds may require paw trimming every 4-6 months. It really depends on the specific dog breed and the quality of its coat.
Trim your dog’s paws when it’s in a docile and pleasant mood. If it’s extremely excited or especially agitated, it will be much harder to get it to hold still while you trim its paws

If your pup has hair that grows between his pads, trim it when it gets long and folds under his pads or when it bunches up between his toes.

The dogs who usually have long coat and can grow fur between paw pads are usually advised to get their paw pads trimmed, to avoid ticks and dust sticking in there. As Hugo has short coat so we never got his coat trimmed.

True Retam. Right Kajal. Very informative piece.
Also, in snowy places, snow and ice could stick to paws and cause cracks, hence trimming is recommended for firm grip. Gadhu lets me do this. Apart from massaging him, this is my favourite grooming moment. 😊
